Submissions

Please follow these submission guidelines:
The journal is published biannually in May and November.
The deadline for submissions is March 15 for the May issue and September 15 for the November issue.
Please send a brief biographical sketch and a photo of yourself in jpg (jpeg) or gif format along with your submission. If you are unable to scan and send your photo electronically, you may mail it to the below address, taking care that it arrives without folds or creases.
We accept both original and previously published work, though we do ask that you do not send work that can be found on multiple sites at the same time.
We do not pay for work at this time.

We do not accept email attachments for reviews, prose, poetry, non-fiction; all writings submitted electronically should be pasted in the body of an email with your brief biographical sketch and the attached photo.
Please write either Poetry Submission, Essay Submission, Review Submission, Fiction Submission etc. in the subject line.
If by post, please double-space your work and include a SASE if you would like your work returned, with the exception that you are mailing your work from Africa under hardship conditions.
Please do send images (photographs, or paintings and drawings) in jpg (jpeg) or gif format. If by post, please send clean photographs without creases.
You may send more than one submission at a time only if you're submitting to different categories, i.e., fiction and poetry, or critical essay and creative non-fiction, etc.
Word count is flexible; the numeric figure is a general guideline.
Book reviews (or short review essays): up to 7,000 words (word count flexible) and no more than one review at a time. At the beginning of the review, please include the author's name and title of the book being reviewed as well as the book's full publication information and number of pages including ISBN number if applicable.
Creative non-fiction:
No more than one piece at a time, up to 7,000 words.
Critical essays:
No more than one essay at a time, up to 7,000 words.
Fiction:
No more than one story at a time, a maximum of 7,000 words.
Poems:
A minimum of three poems and no more than five poems at a time.
